Villa K is half of a former summer house located in the Don Đivan bay on the island of Koločep, a bay that was named after the building complex of which the building in question is a part. The summer house was built during the Renaissance, in Gornji Čelo on the island of Koločep, and is of great monumental value. The original spatial organization with traditional elements of Dubrovnik country architecture is clearly visible in the part of the complex – a high boundary wall, traces of a pergola, a gloriette, a connection to the house, a water tank, and the remains of historical structures are visible in the garden. The complex is surrounded on all sides by a stone wall. The house is approached from the west side, from the Don Đivan bay, via steep stairs. Next to the house is a smaller auxiliary building, a former farm space. Behind the house, on the elevated part of the plot, there is a garden with Mediterranean plants, which is bordered on the southeast side by a 5m high stone boundary wall.
The aim of the reconstruction was to renovate the entire complex and to make all spaces suitable for comfortable living indoors and outdoors. The reconstruction project renovated the interior of the main building. The interior layout of the rooms was changed and adapted to the new users, and the selection of modern furniture with minimalist lines brought a contemporary touch to this historic stone house.
