Architectural and urban design of the area of Ponta and Ribarnica in the city port of Dubrovnik
With a critical look at the parasitizing tourist and catering facilities in the old city Port, the project seeks to liberate the public space created by filling the seashore. Fragments of untold stories from historical sources, woven into the space of Porto, relatively unknown even to the citizens, the authors find only through careful research in the field.
The concept of the open museum ‘Porat tells a story’ looks at the old port as a unique entity within the City, in accordance with the urban interior design task. As a permanent exhibition of the museum, new urban equipment is observed – a background for the presentation of archaeological research, filled openings, outlines of foundations,… Its installation is not accidental, but a testimony to the gradual expansion of the coast, and the user by reading the totems of the signalling, but also by moving through the space experiences its history.
