Elementary school Župa dubrovačka

Considering the exceptional increase in the population, the municipality of Župa Dubrovačka has already increased the capacity of its school on several occasions. The upgrade of the original school was completed in 2007, but it soon proved to be insufficient, and as a result, part of the students had to attend classes in the old school at the Kantula location. In order to ensure the one-shift work of the school, the municipality gave the school the use of the space in the building of the Miloslavić Foundation, which was originally intended as the premises of the "Antun Miloslavić" Cultural and Information Center. The goal of the reconstruction and extension project of the Župa Dubrovačka elementary school is to provide each of the over nine hundred students with an adequate space for learning. The investor's idea is to free up the Foundation's space and interpolate the newly built school space into the school complex at Mljekara. The new addition to the school is conceived as two volumes that are left over, connecting the glazed space of communications and multipurpose halls.

The intention of the project is to respect the existing architecture of the school to the greatest extent, which is perfectly reflected in the direction of the axis of the school. On the ground floor, the school consists of an entrance area, a polyvalent and multifunctional hall, a specialized classroom with an associated cabinet and storage room, and sanitary facilities. On the first floor there are 5 classrooms with cabinets, sanitary facilities, a cabinet for professional associates and an archive. On the second floor, there are 5 classrooms with their own cabinets, sanitary facilities and administration areas – an assembly hall, a kitchenette and a room for reception of parents.
The school was designed according to the new Normative for dimensioning the space of primary schools in the Republic of Croatia 2022, the goal of which is to realize the concept of full-day classes. Normative means enabling adequate spatial conditions for a longer and more diverse stay of children in schools. The goal is to modernize the educational process and learning and teaching methods (abolishing work and writing homework at home).
