The area included in the project is located in the vicinity of D8 state road and surrounded by the existing/planned collector roads and is thus easily accessible. The urban plan of Srebreno II (the official gazette of the Župa dubrovačka Municipality no. 10/12) defines the area as a public and social zone. The area includes a clinic and a building of Miloslavić foundation.
The area is one of the largest public surfaces within the district which is completely neglected, without the system of communication, urban equipment and other programmes typical for a public area. Its location allows various possibilities to the users, which are included in the project: a square and a park, a learning area for the young and the elderly, an outdoor waiting area of the nearby clinic and a reading room of the future culture and information centre.
A multifunctional plateau is located in the centre, planned as a square and the centre of the surrounding zones. The topography of the terrain is used to build the plateau as a viewing stand, which increases the possibilities of various public events. On the southern side of the project, there is an interactive water installation.
The centre is planned within the building of the foundation, with new programmes for the people of the district – a reading room, a multi-purpose hall and a multimedia classroom. The activity of the centre will improve the daily life of the local community as the centre of cultural events.
The planned project will allow the use of all programmes in the outdoor and indoor area throughout the year. This attractive zone will also raise the collective consciousness of the need for the planning of public spaces as important areas in the district.
